I had a friend in college who would binge watch classic romance movies. Her enthusiasm for the genre inspired me to a watch a few. At the time, the plots moved too slow for me, and my attention was quickly lost. It wasn’t until I was older that I began to appreciate an era when love revealed itself slowly, and passion had time to marinate. One of my favorites is the 1961 classic, “Breakfast at Tiffany’s,” starring Audrey Hepburn. The chase between her and her leading man (George Peppard) was slow, but the catch was timeless.
Similarly, I’ve learned over my life to savor the wait before anticipated events. It’s a period when I can imagine the endless possibilities and feel the excitement and joy before it even occurs. Tom Petty may have believed “the waiting is the hardest part,” but as I learned in my life, it can sometimes be the best part.
