We have been given the opportunity to pause from the chaos of our life. Yes, for some of us, it may present a financial hardship; added worry about our health, or the health of someone we love; or maybe disappointment over a circumstance that won’t turn out how we had hoped. But, the fact of the matter is, the circumstance we find ourselves in as a result of this COVID-19 pandemic, is what it is.

Despite the upset it’s creating in its wake, there are still as many good and kind hearted people in the world as there was before the virus created an upheaval. We still have our homes, electricity, internet, and running water. There may be a shortage of toilet paper, but we still have indoor plumbing and plenty of resourceful ways of cleaning a dirty bottom. Maybe now we’ll use up the food that’s been taking up space in our pantries and freezers, or offer our abundance to a neighbor who has less. This is a time for us to be resourceful, not remorseful.

Although circumstances right now may not be what was expected, that’s the beauty of life. We can either resist it with complaints, sarcasm, fear and worry, or accept it, and develop the best from it. Every scenario can present both good and bad; It’s what we focus on that creates our experience. If we remain open to the possibilities, amazing things can develop out of the unexpected.

Don’t pass on an opportunity simply because it wasn’t the one you were looking for. Take time to enjoy life at home with your family and pets for the next few weeks. Start the project you’ve been putting off; Call an old friend you haven’t caught up with in a while; Organize your photos, a closet, or basement; Get a head start on your outdoor spring clean-up; Paint a room; Take a nap; Have dinners together as a family; Learn a new language or instrument; Take a hike; Enjoy all those things at home that you’ve worked hard to acquire.

So often I hear the excuse, “I would, if I had the time.” Now you’ve been given the time. What will you do with it?
