When I was kid, I believed when I reached adulthood, life would suddenly open up and begin to make sense. Uncertainties would melt away, and life would present with fewer difficulties.
At 48, I’m here to say, life does not get any less complicated, or easier; At least it hasn’t yet for me. Even when life serves me exactly what I’ve wished for, it doesn’t always fit neatly into unforeseen circumstances. Thus, the familiar adage, “Be careful what you wish for.”
However, I have learned that each new day is an opportunity to show up a little wiser, with more compassion, and less expectation. I may not choose how life presents, but I can choose how I react to it.
