When I was a love sick teenager, and spending every ounce of time relishing in young love, my Mom would often say, “Give them time to miss you.”
As a know-it-all teen, I thought she was handing me a lame excuse for keeping me home; But, with wisdom, I’ve come to understand the merit of her message.
For it is in those periods of absence, when I can further adore and appreciate the one I love. It is through reflection, when I capture the kind subtleties, and precious nuances, which may not have been properly savored in the moment.
Time apart allows pleasurable moments to marinate. Through the fond memories and imagination for the future, I create feel-good emotions that ignite the excitement for when we shall meet again.
Yet another life virtue, my Mom was right about 😉
